At Abbey Farm ET we enjoy working with our children, families and the local community to give the children many exciting learning opportunities throughout their year in Reception.

In Reception we learn through play and exploration, we enjoy independent learning time (discovery time) both inside and outside. We have carpet sessions for Phonics, Maths and English to support and build on our learning.

We share lots of our learning via Tapestry and encourage parents to contribute to their child’s learning journal too. This means that children can share their learning with their teachers and friends!

Early Learning Goals - targets in Reception class

The Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are the goals or targets that children aim to achieve at the end of their reception year that are set by the DfE. The children will be working towards these goals throughout their time in EYFS (birth to 5) across all 7 areas of learning in the EYFS curriculum. The document below breaks these down into the 7 areas.
